23 April 1945
On April 23, 1945, American units of the US Army liberated the Flossenbürg concentration camp. However, over 30,000 men and women did not survive the National Socialist terror.
75 years later…
at the Flossenbürg Concentration Camp Memorial, we wanted to set a far-reaching example — together with people from all over the world — of historical responsibility and human cooperation. For this, around 20 survivors and hundreds of relatives from around the world planned to travel to Flossenbürg. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this is unfortunately no longer possible in the aforementioned planned form.
In order to make the special meaning of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Flossenbürg concentration camp visible in a different way, we want to give survivors, relatives, politicians, and colleagues of the memorial the chance to speak virtually.
